Wednesday 6th May - Cup Final Double!
As Waders prepared for Thursday's Beds Senior Cup Final against Dunstable Town (at Luton FC 7.45pm), manager Chris Nunn has delighted his squad with the news of a new addition. To Chris and his wife was born a son last week. And we're pleased to report that Kyle and mum are doing just fine. Welcome to Biggleswade Town Kyle!
In the meantime Chris has to organise his team for the big final at Kenilworth Road after the high of winning the league championship. The 'double' could certainly crown a magnificent season for the club.
Sunday 26th April - CHAMPIONS!
Biggleswade Town were crowned league champions yesterday in an afternoon of excitment and last day of the season thrills. At Broxbourne Borough title rivals Harefield Utd won 3-1, whilst at The Carlsberg Stadium a crowd of 365 saw Waders complete the double by 3 goals to 2 over Chalfont St Peter, who themselves could have claimed the champions slot.
Tension grew throughout the afternoon as representatives from Biggleswade attended the Harefield match and vice-versa, with constant phone calls between the two venues and jangling nerves. Harefield started the day with a goal difference just 2 worse off than The Waders and both teams equal on points. Chalfont St Peter needed the win to overhaul Harefield for the championship.
First blood went to Waders with a Kevin Kilroy goal, then Harefield went 1-0 up and just before half time Biggleswade made it 2-0 through a Ryan Redford forced own goal, with that news quickly filtering through to the changing rooms and Boardroom at Broxbourne (their match running about 2 minutes ahead of Waders).
In the 2nd period Broxbourne grabbed an equaliser, whilst Chalfont were staging a comeback to make it 2-1 at The Carlsberg Stadium whilst Harefield had quickly restored their lead also at 2-1. At this stage it was unbelievably back to the start of the day status quo, with 'The Hares' needing to score 2 goals without reply from Broxbourne. Waders then went 3-1 up with Liam Folds making it all 3 goals from corners for Biggleswade Town and Waders 100th and final league goal of the campaign.
But the drama continued unabated with Chalfont throwing everything at it and dragging the scoreline back to 3-2. Harefield sniffed the chance to be the title winners and themselves pressed forward in their match to make it 3-1 and setup an horrendous nail biting 4 minute finish to the match. Just 1 goal to The Hares was now needed whilst end to end action at Biggleswade meant almost anything could happen there.
But try as they might, time ran out for Harefield and the referee sounded the final whistle with the scoreline Broxbourne 1-3 Harefield. But 3 minutes of action remained at the match in Bedfordshire and the lively pace of that finish kept everyone on the egde of their seats until the whistle finally sounded and Biggleswade Town could rightly claim the champions crown and promotion in a weltering and collective sigh of excitement and relief. The most brilliant end to an historic season forThe Waders, the finest so far in 135 years of history.
Saturday 25th April - The Big One!
Today sees one of the biggest matches in Waders 135 year history as Chris Nunn's team take on Chalfont St Peter in the title decider at The Carlsberg Stadium at 3pm (Adults £5, Concessions £3 Children under 13 free when accompanied by an adult). A good crowd is expected to cheer on Biggleswade Town in their bid to win the SSML League Championship and promotion to to Step 4 for the very first time.
Standing in in the teams way are the two other teams in the title hunt. Chalfont St Peter and Harefield Utd (who play at Broxbourne Borough today in their last match). Waders are leading the table and if they beat Chalfont the latter are out of the race (they still have another match to play but could not catch up the points). But Waders lead is a slender one, a goal difference of just 2 better than Harefields. We have to win foremost and then make sure by enough goals to stay ahead of anything Harefield do today. Their opposition Broxbourne Borough apparantly have injury concerns and also one eye on a cup final they are shortly to appear in!. Anything could therefore happen at Broxbourne today!
The goals scored this afternoon (or lack of them) will decide the entire league season. And spare a thought for Waders manager Chris Nunn whose wife is expecting and now overdue! The birth of a new little Wader could well be as the team decide their championship fate!
A very exciting afternoon is therefore in prospect. Come on down to The Carlsberg Stadium today and support your local team and cheer on the lads to help see history in the making!
Saturday 18th April - No Change!
After a full day of action in the SSML Premier, there is no change at the top of the table as the top 3 all win without conceding. Waders lead by a goal difference of 2 remains as Harefield also win 1-0.
The whole season now rests on next Saturdays (25th April) fixtures when the title and promotion will be decided. 1st play 3rd as Biggleswade Town are at home to Chalfont St Peter, whilst 2nd placed Harefield Utd travel to Broxborune Borough. It couldn't be closer!
Monday 13th April - Waders On Top!
12 Wins in the last 14 matches have catapulted Nunny's heroes into top spot in the Premier Division. A 6-0 derby romp against neighbours Biggleswade Utd at The Carlsberg Stadium tonight was watched by the biggest crowd the league have seen this season, and they weren't disappointed with what was on offer. Saturday 11th April - No Slip Up's!

Friday 10th April - Bank Holinday Bonanza!
With the league title and promotion temptingly close, Biggleswade Town have just 4 league matches left to play this season and two of them are this weekend. On Saturday Colney Heath come to Town with a 3pm kick off and on Bank Holiday Monday it's the big Biggleswade derby when Waders host Utd for the first ever Premier Division encounter between the two teams at The Carlsberg Stadium. Kick off 7.45pm. Turnstile entry for all league matches - £5 adults, £3 concessions and kids under 13 free when accompanied by an adult.

We need to win all 4 matches left to be in with a shout of the league title and are now unbeaten in the last 12, winning 10 and drawing 2. Meanwhile leaders Harefield Utd are at home on Saturday to Kentish Town.
Wednesday 8th April - The Race Is On.
It was 7 Up for The Waders tonight and a huge boost for the teams goal difference as Biggleswade Town travelled to Kentish Town's vast 10,000 capacity stadium for another important league match in the season finale run in. A brace a piece for Ryan Redford and Kevin Cooper was bolstered by goals from Jack Weeden, Bobby Dance and Glen Lamacraft. Final score 7-0.
Tuesday nights action in The Premier saw Chalfont St Peter make good use of one of their many games in hand on the leading duo with a comprehensive 3-0 home win over Welwyn Garden City. Chalfonts exit from The Vase clearly hasn't upset the team and 2 goals from Swaysland and 1 from Togwell sealed the valuable points.
Leaders Harefield meanwhile were increasing their lead (for just 24 hours) to 6 points with a 3-0 win at Kingsbury London Tigers, but with only 34 in attendance. The Hares now have just 3 matches left, Biggleswade Town have 5 matches to go (the first of those tonight away to Kentish Town) and third placed Chalfont have 8 games to go. All 3 teams are still in with a shout of the Premier title and the exciting run in details can be viewed here
