25th September - FA Vase Comes To Town
The Waders 1st Round Tie in The FA Vase on Saturday 4th October will have a superb added attraction. The Football Association have confirmed that the actual Vase trophy will be making a visit to The Carlsberg Stadium for this match.

Turnstiles for this match will open at 12.30pm with entry prices at £5 (adults), £3 Concessions and £1 for under 12's accompanied by an adult.

24th September - Team News
Midfielder Paul Garrett has left the club with immediate effect. Paul impressed in pre-season but that was never quite equalled once the league campaign started. Paul leaves with the club's best wishes and has re-joined Stotfold from whence he came. Joining the Waders also with immediate effect is 24 year old Tony Neilson from Brimsdown Rovers.
22nd September - Ground for the Future
Following on from today's FA Ground Grading inspection, the club are delighted to announce that the Carlsberg Stadium has achieved an E grading.
The 4 member FA grading group gave the thumbs up after a lengthy inspection of The Waders new stadium and its facilites. An F grading is required to compete in the current league at Step 5, the E grading award gives the club's facilites a green light for use at Step 4 and with the additiion of a single turnstile Step 3 (Ryman/BGB Premier).
Waders Jon Smith commented, " We had planned for an E Grading immediately, which gives the club the opportunity to lift itself to the next level of football, of course that needs to be achieved on the pitch by gaining promotion, but initself that is pointless without the facilites being approved. Now they have it is great news for the club, the rest is up to the team! We had always planned to build an additional double turnstile block in June 2009 and when that is completed we can achieve the Southern League Premier or Ryman Premier grading. "
19th September - Revolving Door
Waders manager Chris Nunn has confirmed that striker Jamie Steele is no longer at the club after the player was spotted training with another club last night (Thursday). Steele was a stalwart for Town last season but has been dogged with fitness issues and has been unsettled this season, turning out for the reserves and making appearances on the first team bench. Jamie appeared for Cambridge City in pre-season and was clearly unhappy at not making a regular starting position his own for the Waders first team.
"All at the club would like to thank Jamie for all he has done", Waders Jon Smith commented, "Jamie is a real character and we will miss him being around the place. He has our very best wishes whichever club he may end up with". He continued, "The manager needs to be tough on discipline and it is regrettable but understandable why things have come to a head in this way."
With 9 players out through injury or illness, Jamie's departure creates more headaches as reserve players are drafted into the first team, leaving more gaps to fill for the reserves home league match against Langford this Saturday. The first team are at Holmer Green (3pm ko).
14th September - From the Treatment Room
The Waders physio has reported this week on the growing injury crisis mounting at the club. Mark Webster missed yesterday's home match to KLT after pulling up in the warm-up, fellow defender Peter Gatti who also missed the top of the table clash has a broken nose and is likely to be out for 3 weeks. Still in defence, Nick McFarlane is recovering from a fractured cheek bone, but now training and Paul Reynolds (knee injury) is some way off making a return.
Forward Bobby Dance (leg) is likely to be out of action for at least two weeks whilst top striker Dan Heron remains suspended for one more match and goalkeeper Aaron Springham (course work) is some 8 weeks away from a return. A highly revised team is likely to make the short trip to Langford in midweek for the Premier Division Cup tie.
6th September - Game Off
Following on from a 10am pitch inspection this morning, the first teams away league match at Kentish Town has been called off. The Reserves entertain Kent Athletic at The Carlsberg Stadium today in their league opener. Game on (3pm ko).
5th September - Fixture Change
Waders will now host next weeks Challenge Cup tie against Arlesey Athletic due to fixture congestion at the Arlesey ground. The league cup match will be played at the Carlsberg Stadium on Wednesday 10th September with a 7.45pm kick off.
3rd September - Press Release
With the launch of the FA's 'Respect' campaign on 1st September, Biggleswade Town are pleased to announce the naming of their new club captain. Manager Chris Nunn discussed his decision with the Board and last night before the home match with St Margaretsbury defender Liam Folds was officially introduced to the role.
Liam is no stranger to the job having previously captained both Hitchin Town and Bedford Town. As part of the new FA sponsored campaign of respect to the match officials, referee's will now consult more closely with team captains during the match as well as meeting with them when the team sheets are registered 45 minutes before match day kick off. The team handshake line-up on the pitch prior to kick off has also been introduced as part of a package of measures designed to bring the players and match officials together more.
Liam replaces Peter Gatti who stepped up to the captains role last season after injury to Kevin Randall. The club wishes to thank both previous captains for their sterling work and look forward to making the FA's 'respect' campaign one that succeeds this season.
31st August - Good Preparation
As Town's Reserves looked forward to kicking off their league campaign next Saturday, the best possible preparation was in play at The Carlsberg Stadium yesterday with a finale to the pre-season matches. Caldecote were the visitors and Waders Reserves made it a comprehensive 7-0 victory.
24th August - Ground For Inspection.
Waders will go through their official FA Ground Grading in the middle of September the club has learned today. The FA Chief Grader himself will attend the 3,000 capacity Carlsberg Stadium to set the grade that will hopefully see the club through the next few seasons. The Ground requires an F Grade to comply with league rules and that has already been provisionally agreed by the SSML. (The deadline to achieve an E Grade is end of April 2009).
18th August - Early Team Bath!
Waders slipped ignominiously out of The FA Cup yesterday afternoon after a distinctly underpar perfomance away at Romford FC. For manager Chris Nunn it was certainly not the birthday he could have wished for.
Training on Wednesday night at The Carlsberg Stadium will see the team photos for the season finally completed (posted here soon).
Due to our early exit from the Cup, Waders will now travel to Brimsdown Rovers for a league fixture on Saturday 30th August.
13th August - Heron's Golden Boots!
Waders prolific striker Dan Heron was presented with his league golden boot award for scoring 36 Premier goals last season in a ceremony on the pitch before kick off in tonights league match with Hertford Town. Manager Chris Nunn was delighted to present the award which Dan has vowed to try and retain again this season.
9th August - Premier Division Opening Day
Results didn't favour the pre-season favourites as the SSML Premier Division kicked off today. (For all Premier Division results menu click 'League & Cup Extra').
As The Waders went down 3-1 at Harefield Utd, last seasons runners up Chalfont St Peter also failed to record any points as they slipped up 2-3 at home to St Margaretsbury. Also bucking the betting odds, title favourites Hanwell Town lost 3-2 at Welwyn Garden City who had shown little in pre-season.
The division new boys fared better though and Berkhamsted Town sit on top of the table tonight due to goal difference after winning 5-2 at Holmer Green. Newly promoted Haringey Borough and Kentish Town both recorded 2-2 draws, the former at home to Oxhey Jets, the latter away to Hertford Town. In Division 1 Royston Town took top spot after a 4-0 opening day win at home to Harpenden Town.
8th August - Grading
The Carlsberg Stadium faces its own tough test on Monday as the club receives the League ground inspector. The FA will inspect in September for a grading classification.
8th August - It's Here!
The new football league season kicks off tomorrow (Saturday) with Waders facing a tough trip on the opening day to Harefield Utd in the SSML Premier Division.
Manager Chris Nunn has some injury concerns to deal with but is happy with the way the squad has prepared during pre-season. The good news is that defender Nick McFarlane came through an operation for his double fractured cheekbone (v Newmarket) without complications. We wish Nick a speedy recovery.
Waders kick off tomorrow in the brand new away kit sporting our new sponsors name IBIS Construction. The club are also delighted to announce the signing of Keith Thomas for his second season with the Waders.
1st August - More Injuries
Following on from the serious injury to Waders defender Nick Mcfarlane and to fellow defender Mark Webster in pre-season, another friendly has brought about another casualty. Goalkeeper Aaron Springham who has been on outstanding form was forced to leave the field in Wednesday's run out against Bury Town. A hat-trick for the visitors Lee Smith pushed the final score to Biggleswade Town 3 - 4 Bury Town.
30th July - Cup Date Switch
The Waders opening foray into this season's FA Cup will now be on Sunday 17th August with a 1pm kick off. The away tie with Romford has been put back by a day because of their groundshare this season at Aveley FC who entertain Cheshunt in a Ryman League match on the Saturday.
29th July - McFarlane in Hospital
Waders defender Nick McFarlane was rushed to Hospital after suffering an horrendous injury during last nights pre-season friendly with Newmarket Town. The match was held up while the player received urgent treatment on the pitch for concussion after an elbow connected with his face during an arial challenge.
An overnight stay in hospital and tests this morning have confirmed a fractured cheek bone just below the eye socket. Depending on surgery, the defender could be out for 8 weeks. The club wish Nick a speedy and full recovery. The match itself ended 0-0.
26th July - Urchins in Town
Biggleswade Town notched up a fine performance against Ryman Premier outfit AFC Hornchurch this afternoon. Reserve manager Tony Lamacraft took charge of this affair and was delighted afterwards that the revamped Waders squad had not conceded against such seasoned opponents.
With injuries already racking the team after the 4-3 defeat to Conference side Histon last week a thoroughly accomplished team performance was Lamacrafts verdict. Paul Garrett made it 1-0 to The Waders before half time and try and as The Urchins might they could not break down Towns defence in the second period.
23rd July - Histon friendly
3 goals for The Waders was insufficient to match a full Histon first team tonight. The Blue Square National outfit were certainly put under pressure by a magnificent Biggleswade performance. Some excellent goals added to manager Chris Nunn's pleasure in giving such esteemed opposition a very good run out. The only downside to the evening were several injuries picked up. Report to follow.
22nd July - News.
The club are delighted to announce the addition of forward Jamie Steele to the 08/09 squad. Jamie, who has been trialing for Cambridge City signed club forms for The Waders on Monday evening and collected his training kit for the new campaign. Jamie scored 18 goals for Waders in the SSML Premier last season and brings manager Chris Nunn's first team squad signings to 20.
A run out for the team tonight saw a 3-1 loss to Hitchin Town, with defender Neil Morgan scoring for Biggleswade Town. Hitchin equalised through Paul Barnes right on half time, (after a superb save from the Hitchin keeper prevented Dan Heron from making it 2-0) and added to their tally later on in the match through Paul Barnes. Ex-Wader Scott Orphanou made it 4 for Hitchin in the last 4 minutes. A good work out for the lads in their first match was the managers verdict and a good competitive game of football to take part in.

Not only that it will be a good stern test on the pitch for our players."
Thursday 6th March - Results and News.
Premier rivals Brimsdown Rovers conceded ground last night as they went down at home 2-3 to Kingsbury London Tigers. Coupled with Tuesday nights draw for Chalfont St Peter and Waders climbed back to second position with the win at home last night.
On the player front this week, Hertford's Ian Cooper has been snapped up by BG outfit Hemel Hempsted and Waders manager Chris Nunn has confirmed a new signing for next season.
News from the Physios room sees recently absent defenders Marcus Hering, Neil Morgan and Paul Reynolds all fighting for fitness in the run up to Saturdays huge home clash with Chalfont St Peter, whilst Bradley Harrison should be available for selection. The potential of at least one returning defender may see excellent recent signing Graham Buchannan moved back to midfield.
Monday 3rd March - Premier Result
Beaconsfield SYCOB leaped to the top of the Premier Division tonight after 4 -0 home win against London Colney. A Swaysland goal, an own goal and a brace from Swift overwhelmed Colney who are propping up the table and destined for relegation.
The run in for the leading clubs is now most interesting, with everything it seems to play for and an exciting end to the season is in prospect.

Waders will meet table toppers Chalfont St Peter in the semi-final of the Premier Cup next week. The tie has been set for Tuesday 26th Feb, clashing with Waders NBC Cup semi-final away at Cranfield and this has now been postponed.
The Waders trip to Chalfont (ko 7.45pm) will be the second in a month and the team will surely be looking to avenge that 1-0 league defeat.
Sunday 17th Feb - March fixtures full of strong tests. The league fixture list is now on site for March and what a packed month of 7 fixtures this will prove to be in the Waders 2007/08 campaign!
On the 1st is a testing trip to promotion hopefuls and start of season favourites Harefield Utd (Waders lost 3-1 at home to them in August). We then entertain Cockfosters at home three days before what is potentially the biggest game of the season as Town entertain current leaders Chalfont St Peter in a huge '6 pointer'.
Biggleswade rivals Utd, away on the 15th should ensure a big crowd followed by Ruislip Manor away. Two more huge games end the month with Waders at home to Hanwell Town and then away to Brimsdown Rovers in the toughest weeks of league football this season.
Friday 15th Feb - Squad prepares for Hertford
Manager Chris Nunn has prepared his squad for tomorrow's (Saturday) league clash at Hertford. But injuries to Paul Reynolds and Neil Morgan may keep them from the squad and new signing Graham Buchanan is suspended.
Hertfords prolific goal-scorer Kevin Cooper is also suspended for this match, but changes from the Waders winning starting 11 at Ruislip in midweek are inevitable as Waders seek to try and match a resurgent Hertford in their home lair. Hertford are currently lying in 6th place in the Premier table (click on the small table above for a full sized view), Waders are 2nd. Both teams need the points and the contest should be a good one.
Kick off 3pm.
Saturday 9th Feb - Waders Premier Cup 3rd Round Tie at Ruislip Manor is now on and set for the evening of Wednesday 13th February. 'Manor' have recently gone through some problems, but we are delighted that their immediate future now appears secure and today (Saturday) they put in their best league win of the season 3-0 away at Welwyn Garden City.
Their resurgent team will be out to prove a point no doubt on Wednesday, and with a big crowd expected this could be a cracking cup tie and one that Waders are taking most seriously.
Tuesday 5th Feb - updates. Please note that holidays have prevented the league table on the this website being updated.
Saturday 2nd Feb - Congratulations to Hertford's Kevin Cooper on today clocking up his 200th goal for the SSML Premier club. Kevin has scored 201 goals for his club in 252 appearances. A tremendous achievment by any standard.
Saturday 26th Jan - Waders league match at Ruislip Manor has been postponed. The league have given Ruislip a two week moratorium in order to try and resolve that club's current problems. On 19th Jan that involved RM's league match with Langford, and our match on the 26th. We wish Ruislip Manor well in their search for new officials to take the club forward.
Tuesday 22nd Jan - Defender Ben Stocker has been released to SSML Premier club Biggleswade Utd. We wish Ben best of luck with his new club. Striker Sean Murray's registration has also been released to Utd.
Saturday 19th Jan - Our home league fixture against
Aylesbury Vale was postponed after an 11am match-day pitch inspection.
Monday 14th Jan - Waders Premier Cup tie away at Ruislip Manor called off - waterlogged pitch.
Saturday 4th October
The Vase literally came to Town on Saturday and whilst that was proudly displayed in the clubhouse, the team display on the pitch was an equally proud one.
The ebullient Redford secured the first goal after 12 minutes with a superb shot. Daniel Flack made it 2-0 in the second half with a truly Beckhamesque free kick to put Waders into the hat for the second round draw on Monday. An attractive game of football to watch with chances galore on a blustery cold day with Chris Nunn's team fully deserving this cup win.
Saturday 27th October
Waders midfielder Chris Hewitt scored his first goal for 5 years at Colney Heath on Saturday and it seemed that may be enough to grab all 3 points for injury hit Town.
But 2 late goals from the hosts dented Hewitts celebrations and offered a second setback in a week for Chris Nunn's team. A weeks rest now and the The FA Vase on Saturday provides the team some relief and an opportunity to get some players back to fitness.
Tuesday 23rd September
The Biggleswade derby tonight saw Utd come away with the spoils on a cold and blustery evening at Second Meadow in front of a crowd of 123. The injury ravaged visitors needed to contain a Utd side playing with 5 in the middle and did so to begin with comfortably. Some strange refereeing appeared to stunt the flow of first half football with Redford booked for asking the referee why he had blown for a foul when the striker dummied his opponent and was through on goal.
More bookings followed for seemingly innocuous events, but the half was nevertheless typically played in sporting fashion with Waders having the better of the chances and more of the play but to no avail. Redford had hit the bar and seen a shot go inches wide, Weeden also going close.
Inconsistency in the officiating saw two potentially bone breakling challenges go un-carded in the second period and the match deteriorated somewhat into more of a typical derby clash. With just 3 minutes left Town failed to deal with a Utd attack and with the penalty area packed with bodies an innocuous shot took a violent deflection to find the corner of the net. Utd celebrated wildly and moments later the full time whistle was blown. It was sad near the end to hear some bile and foul abuse from the home bench directed at a Town player trying to retrieve a match ball, but Utd had their victory and move up to 6th in the table. The injury torn Waders have to re-group now for the visit to Colney Heath on Saturday.
Waders stay top of the Premier table, but the chasing pack have games in hand and 2nd placed Langford play Oxhey Jets on Wednesday evening.
Saturday 20th September
Biggleswade Town made it to the top of the Premier Division table today after a 2-1 win at Holmer Green. A Waders team decimated through injury took the lead after excellent work from Liam Folds put the Holmer defence under pressure and forced a deflected goal off a home player. Holmer produced a world class save early on from Waders debutant keeper but rarely troubled him again until after Jack Weeden doubled the lead in the second half after weaving his magic in the home box.
Holmer gave themselves hope when they reduced the defecit by half, but a remixed Town defence held them at bay for a comfortable enough 3 points.
Tuesday 16th September
Waders bowed out of the Premier Division Cup tonight at near neighbours Langford. With 9 players unavailable due to injury or suspension manager Chris Nunn was nevertheless delighted with the overall performance. 0-0 at half time was Langford's luck as Redford battered their back line and the hosts were thankfull to their keeper for some excellent work.
Langford took the lead and then dominated 20 minutes of the second period only for Redford to square the match with 5 minutes to go and force extra time. Howard was replaced in goal (injured) and Waders appeared to take control of the match with the home sides defence taking a beating. But 2 efforts on goal produced 2 results for Langford and it was they who progressed to the next round 3-1 winners.
Saturday 13th September
Waders couldn't deny Kingsbury London Tigers their unbeaten league record today and it took a 93rd minute Dave Daniels goal to earn a point in a thrilling 4-4 draw at The Carlsberg Stadium.
The visitors were down to 10 men (red card) from the 6th minute when Waders opened the scoring with a penalty. Kingsbury were pacey and well organised coming forward, although an injury torn Waders stuck to the job well to retrieve the vital league point.
Wednesday 10th September
Another 5 goals scored this evening saw the Waders through this tricky 1st Round of the Challenge Trophy (League Cup). Although this was Arlesey Athletic's home tie, the match was played at the Carlsberg Stadium due to pitch availability.
A golden debut for 16 year old George Anderson was a highlight along with Ian Salt's (right back) debut for the club. The two combined well from a keepers throw out and excellent pass for the first goal in the 6th minute. A 5 minute spell before half time saw 3 goals to effectively kill the game off. Waders were 5 nil up when changes were made allowing Arlesey to score 2 late consolations. Town now entertain Mursley Utd in Round 2 (October).
Tuesday 2nd September
Town made it 16 goals in 3 league matches tonight as the team overran St Margaretsbury for a 6-1 victory. The visitors were effectively wiped out with superb 10 minute spells of football either side of half time. Goals came courtesy of Dan Heron (2), Jack Weeden (2), Ryan Redford and Bobby Dance. The whole team were awarded the 'man of the match' accolade for what manager Chris Nunn described as the best team performance for 2 seasons!
Waders now look to Saturday's away league fixture at division new boys and fellow high scorers Kentish Town for another exciting contest.
Saturday 30th August
Waders backed up their 7 away league goals in midweek with another 3 today at Brimsdown Rovers and another 3 points. The match started slowly but when Redford stepped up to take a penalty mid-way through expectation was high. It was not to be as a tame shot was saved. It didn't take Redford long though to make amends and at half time 1-0 was the lead.
The second period saw a stalemate until 3 quick substitutions prove fruitfull. Dave Daniels with his first touch setting up Heron who slotted home. The substitute grabbed his second minutes later and his foruth goal in 2 matches coming off the bench.
Tuesday 26th August
Finally in top gear tonight the teams pent up frustration boiled over into a thoroughly good all round perfomance away at Welwyn Garden City.
The Waders were 3 to the good by half time with Jack Weeden, Bobby Dance, and Paul Garrett (direct from a corner) the scorers. Dance added to his tally and along with Ryan Redford Dan Heron (sub) also nabbed a brace to make the final score 7-0. Town move up to 9th in the Premier Table.
Saturday 23rd August.
Waders Tottenhamesque start to the league season continued with this home defeat to a clearly monied and well organised Aylesbury Vale. This was a game of 2 penalties as Town stood to go 2-0 up when Dan Heron stepped up to take a deserved first half penalty, his hesitant style though saw the visiting keeper guess the right way and 1-0 at half time had to suffice, Heron having scored a goal from open play on 21 minutes.
The second period saw the visitors search for a goal rewarded when they made no mistake from the penalty spot for a highly dubious equaliser. The match was lost for Waders with 9 minutes left on the clock to leave the talented but disparate team languishing in the lower reaches of the Premier table.

Over & Out
Town exited the FA Cup at the first hurdle for the second year running at the hands of an Essex Senior League team this weekend. .
The high hopes of progression to face Leyton away in the next round were destroyed by 2 Mackim first half goals and a Mbala second half effort that killed off any enthusiasm for a late comeback. Romford were left with 10 men on the pitch, but The Waders just didn't warm to a Sunday outing and must now look to The Vase to progress in an FA Competition this season. (See 'Fixtures & Results' for the match report).

Nunn sees Red as Heron Carded
Waders manager Chris Nunn was left pondering a series of decisions from tonights match officials that led to striker Dan Heron being sent off for the first time ever in his career. The 1-0 home win over Hertford Town was marred by the early second half incident which Nunn described afterwards as 'controversial'.
The detail of an alleged first half confrontation on the pitch however was apparantly missed by the match officials despite howls of protest from the occupants of the main stand. Waders Vice-Chairman Jon Smith said 'It's always difficult to see the minutia of all incidents on the pitch from the stands, however consistency of standards throughout a match is something we always need to rely on the officials to maintain'.
'An assessor was present last night and I'm sure he would have gone through the more robust incidents during the match carefully with the referee and his assistants afterwards.'
When asked if the club will appeal the Dan Heron Red card, Jon said ' As a club we generally don't like to appeal the referee's on-pitch decision making. No doubt there will be a discussion because this is the first time Dan has ever received a red card in his football career, we have listended to evidence from various parties and it is just not in his nature to be blotted with this kind of thing. The team went through the entirety of last season without a Red card and here we are on the first day of our home campaign with one already!. Some people are saying that a Hertford player should have been dismissed in the first half for a blatant offence, but I cannot comment on that other than repeating that a consistency of standards in refereeing is something we all hope to enjoy the benefits of during a season of football.'
The game itself was a hard fought win although chances went begging for the second match on the bounce. Midfielder Glen Lamacraft scored Waders first ever league goal at the Carlsberg Stadium and earned the team their first league points to set the Waders up nicely for Sundays trip to Romford in The FA Cup.
Saturday 9th August -
Waders got off to a losing start in the Premier Division this afternoon at Harefield Utd, going down 3-1. The hosts opened the scoring in the 7th minute but a debut goal from Ryan Redford saw the teams go in even at half time. Waders missed a hat full of chances including scraping the woodwork no less than 3 times before Harefield wrapped up the points.
Whilst their elder brother was appearing for the first team at Harefield, the two younger Lamacrafts grabbed a goal a peice at The Carlsberg Stadium as the Reserves lost 3-2 to Thurrock Reserves in a friendly.
07/08 Season
Saturday 26th April - Waders finish on a high.
Biggleswade Town 5 - 0 Tring Athletic. Waders finished the league season on a high in this free scoring contest.
Saturday 19th April - 3rd place secured.
Waders still have a match to go in the SSML Premier campaign, but assured themselves of an excellent 3rd place finish on Saturday with a win at lowly London Colney.
But this quite a turgid affair on the whole, with Colney shutting out a new strike team of Keith Thomas and recent signing Adam Bensaud. The latter however had a superb first half, working hard on the right and up front, but chances to Scott Field and Thomas went begging.
The second period was livened by a Bensaud debut goal for his new club. The cold and wet afternoon air was then suddenly warmed by a 30 yard wonder strike from Bradley Harrison that had the crowd gasping and moves Harrison straight into contention for goal of the season. An excellent overall performance from Graham Buchanan though, snatched man of the match for him.
Final Score -
London Colney 0 - 2 Biggleswade Town
Scorers - Bensaud, Harrison
Saturday 12th April - Title in Beaco's grasp
Waders lost out today to the Premier champions (Beaconsfield SYCOB) in waiting after going 2 goals down in a first half that probably saw Town have the better of the play. A couple of defensive errors let in a professional looking SYCOB (the first on 22 minutes) after Waders had appeared to have the better chances.
An uphill struggle in the second half was not helped by the visitors resolve and it took a penalty from Keith Thomas to halve the defecit. Try as they might, there was not another way through for Town. SYCOB had survived a clearance off the line, and some excellent work ffrom their keeper had denied the home side a point and fellow promotion challengers Chalfont St Peter the ideal result they were seeking (Chalfont went second after a 3-1 win at Aylesbury Vale).
Congratulations to Beaconsfield SYCOB on a thoroughly professional approach and a win that sets them up nicely as champions elect.
Two more league games then for Waders and one cup final to round off an excellent season overall and a fantastic improvement on last season's relegation scrap.
Final Score -
Biggleswade Town 1- 2 Beaconsfield SYCOB
Scorer - Keith Thomas (pen)
SYCOB - O'Connor, Swift
Saturday 29th March - Thomas Breaks Rovers
With standing water through the middle of the pitch at kick off, the anticipation was one of a tricky game of poor quality, but the reality was quite different. Both sides adapted well to the windy and wet conditions with Waders coming out on top as every ball was challenged for in a good competitive game.
Chances fell mainly to the visitors in the first period and on 35 minutes Waders conspired to score a superb team goal that ended with Keith Thomas majestically finishing off a well worked move.
The second period saw the home side battling against the wind and Waders were soon denied a penalty shout. Chances were still being made with the Brimsdown goalkeeper called into action with alarming regularity for them.
As the match wore on, the home side not utilising their wide players well, became increasingly frustrated at not being able to penetrate Waders box, although one effort did rebound from the bar. Almost immediately Dan Heron at the other end was also denied by the woodwork after a fine effort, and then substitute Jamie Steele (replacing Thomas) contrived to tangle with his strike partner to miss an open goal. Brimsdown were fortunate to survive without further loss of goal difference before the referee brought the proceedings to a halt as the sky discourged more heavy precipitation.
In all a good performance across the pitch by players and officials with Biggleswade Town richly deserving of the points.
Final Score -
Brimsdown Rovers 0 - 1 Biggleswade Town
Scorer - Keith Thomas 35 mins
Tuesday 25th March - No Charity From Waders
Biggleswade Town made it through to the final of the North Beds Charity Cup with a fought for midweek 3-0 win away at Division 1 Cranfield Utd.
Scott Field got Waders underway in the 4th minute with an overhead kick spectacular after the hosts made a hash of a set-piece.
But Cranfield appeared inspired by going behind and Town then had to soak up some sustained pressure, although Utd were unable to capitalise.
The second period saw a much better performance from the Premier Division side and the Cup holders, but it took until the 68th minute for Jack Weeden to put Keith Thomas through and score a very well taken goal to double the lead.
Jack Weeden himslef then got a goal he deserved 4 minutes later to put the tie beyond any doubt. Cranfield certainly belied their lowly position, with some hard working and eager youngsters filling their ranks, but Waders better organisation won through in the end to book a cup final place against either Stotfold or Langford on May 9th.
Final Score
Cranfield Utd 0 - 3 Biggleswade Town
Saturday 22nd March - Back On Top
With the weather postponing much of the SSML Premier action this weekend, Waders took full advantage with this 2-1 win and the double over Hanwell Town. Biggleswade didn't perform to their best in the first half but Dan Heron opened the scoring with the run of general play direct from a corner on 36 minutes. His left footed in-swinger sneaking in under the bar at the far post. But the lead didn't last long as a lack of concentration let in the visitors for an equaliser 10 minutes later.
Chances for Hanwell were few and far between in the second period with Waders newly tatooed keeper Aaron Springham an onlooker for much of the time. A much better approach to play in midfield brought dividends in the Hanwell area, with Scott Field, Chris Hewitt and Bradley Harrison creating chances for the front men.
With Jamie Steele out injured, Dan Heron was partnered by Keith Thomas and the Hanwell defence came under increasing pressure as the half wore on, with chance after chance keeping the visitors keeper busy.
Then a through ball found Thomas whose sublime one touch fed an eager Heron who ran through on goal and took his chance superbly to regain Waders lead.
The lead could easily have been increased further minutes later when Hanwell were at full stretch again, but with shots coming off the post and being tipped over the bar, the match ended without further score. A valuable 3 points then for Biggleswade Town who move once more to the top of the Premier table, admittedly with the chasing duo having games in hand.
Final Score:
Biggleswade Town 2 - 1 Hanwell Town
Monday 17th March - Waders Off Target.
Waders went in at half time on this very cold evening one goal to the good, but with a hat-full of chances squandered. In a 45 minutes that was totally dominated by the visitors, it was staggering that only one goal was the bounty from so much possession and effort returned such a slim leading margin.
Scott Field missed a penalty after Keith Thomas had given Waders the lead through a super lob shot.
The seocond period saw Town kicking up hill and again chances were missed before Dan Heron made it seem comfortable by doubling the lead. Waders then lost their concentration and from a match they should have buried, lost a goal during one of Manors rare forays into the danger zone.
Now buoyed up with a sniff of an equaliser the hosts pressed forward and Waders had to endure 10 minutes before the final whistle was blown.
Credit to the match referee who handled proceedings very well and to Ruislip Manor for keeping on until the very end. But manager Chris Nunn must be wondering what he has to do to motivate his team to finish off a dominating performance.
Final Score:
Ruislip Manor 1 - 2 Biggleswade Town

Saturday 8th March. Thriller ends in controversy.
The big match in The Premier Division today saw 2nd play 3rd as Waders took on Chalfont St Peter, witrh both sides determined for a top two position in the table come May. With Chalfont already 2 matches to the good against Town this season (League and Cup), the home side came out battling from the first minute to regain pride and take all 3 points.
Early efforts were thwarted, but Waders pressed on, Steele and Heron continuing to worry the CSP defense and with the back line coping well with the visitors forays forward, Town were in command
In the 40th minute Waders finally took the lead through Jamie Steele who received a clinical through ball from Scott Field and that's how it remained at the break.
The second period saw the game ebb and flow, with chance after chance being thwarted by Chalfont and 2 fine saves from their keeper. Heron, Steele and Field all came close, whilst at the other end the visitors tried to get back into the game without luck.
As normal time came to a close Chalfont became more urgent and pushed on for their best spell of the game, but a resolute wall of Green and White stripes stood firm with Aaron Springham making a fine tip-over save from their best effort.
Now with 100 minutes showing on the clock a fierce Welsh strike from the edge of the area flew through a crowd of bodies and skimmed the paint off the inside of the near upright to cross the goaline and send the visitors into raptures.
Their was literally only time to take the re-start and the referee immediately blew his final whistle and Waders felt robbed of two points for the sake of 10 minutes added time, although other watches in the ground made it more than that!
A great performance and a deserved victory was cruelly denied and the team now have a week to lift themselves for the derby clash away at Biggleswade Utd next Saturday.
Good luck to Chalfont in their Premier Cup Final and with Beaconsfield winning at Leverstock Green to another injury time goal, the championship now looks to be a two horse race at best.
Final Score
Biggleswade Town 1 - 1 Chalfont St Peter.
Wednesday 5th March - Enough for 3 points.
On paper this was a very tricky fixture, but Waders managed all 3 points (just) to go back to second in the Premier Division table.
Goals from Jack Weeden (head) and Dan Heron (head) gave a seemingly comfortable cushion, but credit to Cockfosters for constantly battling in what was not a great spectacle for the watching crowd.
They pulled a goal back from their man of the match Laney and then hit the upright as the minutes passed painfully at the end of the second half. Town had chances themselves, but with injury problems still racking the squad, had to hold on for the points.
Final Score
Biggleswade Town 2 - 1 Cockfosters.
Saturday 1st March - Town Not United In Second Half Woe.
On paper, this was match of the day in the Premier Division and the first half lived up to that despite the none too perfect conditions in a strong blustery wind.
Harefield took the lead and deservedly so as they claimed the majority of pressure and possession in the opening period. Waders took time to settle but once in their stride came good. A superb cross from Theo Aherne needed the merest touch for Dan Heron to equalise.
Waders pushed on again and Heron took the visitors into the lead with a few minutes left of the half. A moment of defensive madness and more than a hint of double offside left Harefield with a tap in for an added time equaliser.
The second period saw Towns makeshift defence shifted again as the first half battle had taken its toll. More changes were enforced within minutes and the balance of the team just didn't work thereafter. Harefield took the lead and then hung on well despite chances for the visitors.
With 5 minutes to go and the score at 3-2, Waders pushed on looking to salvage a point, but Harefield took full advantage and 2 quick goals ended the match and gift wrapped the home side all 3 points.
The scoreline flattered the victors, but in reality the out of sorts Waders had missed a couple of injured players and just couldn't match Harefields winning obsession on the day. For them, 2 goal Sean Sonner was the star and proved too tricky for Towns makedo team.
Biggleswade Town slip to 3rd whilst Beaconsfield go 2nd. Leaders Chalfont St Peter lost 2-0 at home to Colney Heath.
Final Score
Harefield Utd 5 - 2 Biggleswade Town
Tuesday 26th Feb - Waders Bow Out.
A super Dan Heron goal on 15 minutes gave Waders the lead in this semi-final Premier Cup tie and that lead was to last for 70 minutes. Both sides had chances in an entertaining and highly paced first period, with the visitors disappointed not to go in at the break further ahead.
The second half proved just as frenetic but it wasn't until the 85th minute that another goal was achieved and this time it went to the home side, forcing 30 minutes of extra time.
The game turned a bit unsavoury in the first 15 minute period with the Chalfont number 17 sparking a mass players scuffle which resulted in the already booked Bradley Bubb receiving his second Yellow Card and subsequent marching orders. But the home side continued to battle and despite chances for the Waders, the 113th minute saw Chalfont score the eventual winner to send Chris Nunns team out of the Cup.
It was a good performance all round and on the night Town deserved a victory that cruelly eluded their efforts.
Final Score (aet)
Chalfont St Peter 2 - 1 Biggleswade Town
Saturday 23rd Feb - No way through.
Waders suffered a serious setback this afternoon at McMullen Park with this frustrating 0-0 draw, only the teams third single point collection of the season so far.
Leverstock Green came to town to defend and they did their job with hardly a shot on the home goal in 90 minutes. A sure fire penalty was commuted to a free kick outside the box on the referee's orders and the resultant action was so nearly converted by Jamie Steele. Dan Heron regained a starting place and also had first half chances that just failed to open the scoring.
The visiting goalkeeper remianed busy and his best save of the match came from a fierce Bradley Harrison drive that was just tipped over the bar. Try as they might Waders just couldn't find a way through and Leverstock were the happier team at the final whistle.
After the match manager Chris Nunn conceded that Chalfont and Harefield will the teams looking to take the Premier Championship now.
Final Score
Biggleswade Town 0 - 0 Leverstock Green.
Wednesday 20th Feb - Back on top.
Waders went back to the top of the SSML Premier Division this evening thanks to a 3-1 defeat of Aylesbury Vale. (Click on the small table above for a full sized view).
Illness and injury forced manager Chris Nunns hand as far as team selection was concerned with those unavailable including keeper Aaron Springham, defenders Neil Morgan and Kevin Randall, midfielder Scott Field and league top scorer Dan Heron.
Drafted into the number 1 shirt, Robin Timms made an outstanding save before Keith Thomas opened the scoring on 25 minutes and a minute before half time Jamie Steele had made it 2-0.
Waders continued to press in the second period and on the hour Keith Thomas made it a brace with his second and Waders third. A sloppy final 20 minutes gave a penalty opportunity to Vale and and Sam Cooley duly converted. A reasonable performance all round for the Waders, an excellent performance from the 3 match officials and a much needed 3 league points.
Final Score
Biggleswade Town 3 - 1 Aylesbury Vale.
Saturday 16th Feb - Honours even.
A good crowd at Hertingfordbury Park this afternoon saw out a draw in the weekends big match in the Premier Division. Whether a point was satisfactory fior either side is a moot point though, as Hertford failed to gain on the chasing pack, whilst Biggleswade lost ground to leaders Chalfont St Peter (3-0 winners against Bigg Utd), but stay second in the table (click on the small table above for a full sized view).
Waders certainly had the best of the first half despite Hertford taking the lead in the 12th minute with a Kevin Kilroy penalty. Waders only to had to wait 4 minutes though until Scott Field had the chance to equalise, also from the penalty spot and he took it gratefully.
Waders again had the best chances in the 2nd period. Although the home side will claim better possession of the ball, it will be the visitors that will see the final score as a missed opportunity.
MoM for Waders was Peter Gatti, whilst the Hertford goalkeeper Mark Virgo will rightly claim his accolade as their best player on the day, pulling off a string of fine saves to keep his team in the points. Indeed a Jamie Steele spectacular overhead kick with seconds left on the clock was matched by Virgo's acrobatics to save the day for Hertford.
Final Score:
Hertford Town 1 - 1 Biggleswade Town
Wednesday 13th Feb - Cup win
Waders progressed to a semi-final date against Chalfont St Peter with a 2 -0 win tonight at Ruislip Manor in the 3rd round of the Premier Cup.
Both goals came courtesy of Nick McFarlane with one in each half (36, 63) in a changed team from the one that collected all 3 points in the league on Saturday at Holmer Green. Hosts Ruislip Manor played some good football, but the Waders stuck to their game and deserved the victory.
Waders showed off new signing Graham Buchanan (from Barton Rovers) to good effect in a 6 man change for this match by Manager Chris Nunn.
The squad now look forward to the important league fixture away at Hertford this weekend.
Final Score:
Ruislip Manor 0 - 2 Biggleswade Town
Saturday 9th Feb - 3 goals, 3 points
Waders went to Holmer Green today in search of a run of form that can keep them near the head of the table and came home with a clean sheet and all 3 vital points to stay second in the Premier Table.
Goals came courtesy of Dan Heron, Jamie Steele and man of the match Scott Field. A good all round performance that sets up the squad nicely for Wednesday nights Premier Cup tie away at Ruislip Manor.
Final Score -
Holmer Green 0 - 3 Biggleswade Town
Wednesday 6th Feb - 3 point fight back
A crucial second half fight back tonight saw Waders overcome a Colney Heath 2 goal lead to finally claim all 3 points with an 88th minute winner.
The visitors made the early running and surprisingly found themselves 2 goals to the good before Town mustered the fight back from the 50th minute. Goals came from Jack Weeden (2) and Dan Heron.
Final Score - Biggleswade Town 3 - 2 Colney Heath
Saturday 2nd Feb - Waders go to town.
Three important league points gained and two more goals for leading scorer Dan Heron as Town hosted Welwyn Garden City today.
But it was the visitors who opened the scoring with a goal in the 10th minute before Waders could settle. Heron then weaved his magic either side of the interval (44, 46) with a brace to increase his impressive season tally so far. A deserved win then but perhaps a chance to improve on Waders goal difference missed. Nevertheless a good performance and an important win.
Please note that holidays have prevented the league table on the this website being updated.
Saturday 12th Jan - Back on top!
Town got back to winning ways this afternoon with this 3-1 win over St Margaretsbury to go back to the top of the Premier Division table. 0-0 at half time meant that all the main action was to come in the second period and 2 penalties (Scott Field) and a debut goal for Steffan Dancy ensured the points for Waders.
Final score - Biggleswade Town 3 - 1 St Margaretsbury
5th Jan 2008 - Chalfont make good points
An 86th minute strike from Chalfont's deadly striker Bradley Bubb ensured that the points went to the home side as they leapt over Waders to go top of the Premier Table.
This was an entertaining match throughout despite the fact that neither keeper had a huge amount of work to do. Chalfont's scorer may count himself to be lucky to have still been on the pitch after an early yellow card was followed up by a similar challenge that the referee saw in more leniant terms.
For the second match on the bounce waders failed to find the back of the net.
Final score - Chalfont St Peter 1 - 0 Biggleswade Town
