17th November - 2nd Round Blues
The Blue of a resurgent Hertford won through tonight with an unexpected 3-1 win at tournament favourites Langford. Since Pablo Ardiles arrival Hertford are really turning around their fortunes and now progress through to the quarter finals of this cup. Biggleswade Utd heaped more misery (3-1) on crisis club Berkhamsted Town who can do nothing right at the moment. Waders tough Vase opponents from the weekend Kentish Town were seen off 2-0 at Kingsbury whilst Broxbourne Borough narrowly missed out 1-0 at home to rivals St Margaretsbury.
16th September - Big Guns Are Out!
The first round of the Premier Division Cup saw some big names dumped at the first hurdle tonight.
An attendance of only 35 saw Hanwell Town beaten at home 2-0 by Broxbourne Borough. With the home side making changes and perhaps a few players rested ahead of their FA Vase match on Saturday, it was Borough who progreesed to a home tie against St Margaretsbury in Round 2 courtesy of goals from Burke and Mitchell. Chalfont St Peter also lost at home, going out 3-1 to Harefield Utd who now entertain Leverstock Green. Cohen, Gladdy and Haines on target for Utd.
Biggleswade Town reported 9 players out through injury and suspension but an entertaining match was nevertheless played out at Langford who won through 3-1 in extra time in front of the crowd of the evening (114). Groves grabbed himself a hat-trick and Langford will now host Hertford in the next round.
Only 29 spectators saw a 9 goal, 120 minute thriller between Berkhamsted Town and Colney Heath, whilst only 20 turned up to watch Welwyn Garden City continue their poor start to the season with a 2-3 loss at home to Haringey Borough. Haringey now visit Aylesbury Vale in Rd 2, Vale having seen off Oxhey Jets at home 4-1 with goals from Baxter, Bentley, Mellisi and Roberts.
